Meet our Ambassador Heather Lewis

Pilates | Movement

Heather Lewis has been practicing Pilates for 10 years and teaching for 9 years.  She came to Pilates to work through some injuries collected from a dance career. Not only was pilates instrumental in the healing process but it changed her life and she has continued to share this with as many people as possible.  Heather received a Bachelors Degree in General Studies from NAU and went on to get a Masters of Fine Art in Dance from ASU 2003.  As a graduate student she received a grant to go to NYC and train at the original Joseph Pilates Studio concentrating in the Authentic Method.   She feels very fortunate to have studied at the original birthplace of Pilates with Michael Fritschke and Ton Vooght.

Before teaching Pilates full-time Heather taught modern and jazz dance, yoga and Pilates at many levels to diverse populations from high school to university level. She directed the Dance Department at Westview High School for 3 years as well as teaching adjunct faculty for several years at Mesa Community College, Glendale Community College, Scottsdale Community College and Faculty Associate at ASU.  She remains active in the dance community and has recently performed locally with Ann Ludwig Dance Theatre, Center Dance of the Herberger Theatre and is a founding member of Flux Dance Project.

Movement is the body’s language of life.
